Now THIS should be interesting...
by illuminati indoes anyone here have access to the december 1879 (keep in mind the 18, and not 19) issue of watchtower magazine?
if so, please re-type page 55 for the group.
also, in addition to this, is there anybody out there that could re-type and paste page 188 of the book "the finished mystery"?.

How to run an Organization: by the master.
by refiners fire ina few selected passages that caught my eye.
all quotes in capitals.. a doctrine must never be willing to share with another,it cannot be willing to collaborate with an existing order, which it condemns,it feels obligated to combat with the whole world of existing ideas with all possible means, that is, it must prepare its downfall.. the movement must be opposed to existing institutions.. the writer then speaks of manufacturing simple slogans which must be endlessly repeated so as to ignite the organizations followers to action.he says that, once something has been revealed as doctrine to the masses,it must never be altered or changed.
the word used is infallible..... since the programme of the movement is absolutely correct in its aims..with a doctrine it is less harmfull to retain a formulation, even if it should prove to, later, not correspond to reality, rather than improving it and expose a granite principle to discussion.for how shall we convince the people to have blind faith.

An Adventist "Thought Adjustment"
by refiners fire inone of the most important early publishings in adventist history was the "word to the little flock", words uttered by ellen g white, soon to be prophetess of adventism, tract published by her husband and co leader, james white.. it is in this tract that "eg"(as i shall refer to her)first expounded the doctrine of the sabbath, a doctrine as important to adventists as the doctrine of the work is to the jws.. but at the end of this tract an incident is mentioned about which much conflict arose,an incident of interest to apostate adventists.. james white mentions it in his comments at the end of the tract.. it is the famous "solar system" vision of e g white.... what happened was that back at this early stage of adventism, there was only a little kernal of believers, and attending meetings was a man called bates.
bates was a sea captain, quite wealthy, highly respected, what a useful recruit he would be!.
eg knew that bates was obsessed with astronomy and to help bates along in his conversion god himself gave eg a vision of the solar system, flew her around the planets and she described her adventures, live, while in vision, for all to hear.

a thought on the united nations
by refiners fire inback in the seventies i recall the wt was always on about the un.. the un is going to turn on religion.
the un is going to assume a world dominant role.. of course the un was nothing back then,no big power, but the witnesses.
were always on about its coming role.. in the 80s the uns role seemed to fade into obscurity, not mentioned much anymore.. then in the early 90s george bush came along with his new world order.
